Konig Tire Chains - TH01594247

Highlights

  • Easy One-Stop Mounting: Self-tensioning design tightens as you drive—no pulling over to recheck fit.
  • Confident Grip on Ice: Square links and traction plates dig in to snow and bust through ice for steady traction.
  • Smooth, Steady Ride: Diamond pattern gives constant contact with the road for less bounce and vibration.
  • Protected Wheels: Nylon bumpers and plastic-coated hooks keep rims scratch-free in freezing conditions.
  • Built to Last: Manganese-nickel alloy steel resists corrosion and wears tough for multiple seasons.

Features to know about

Struggling for Grip on Steep, Snowy Roads: Diamond Pattern with Square Links Keeps You Moving

When the snow piles up or the road ices over, these Konig chains dig in and keep you climbing. The diamond pattern keeps more of the chain on the ground at once, giving steady traction for smoother, sure-footed movement on snow and light ice. The square links bite in deep for grip without the jarring ride of traditional ladder chains, so you get confident traction that still feels stable and controlled.

Tired of Stopping to Retighten Chains: Self-Tensioning System Does the Work for You

Once you’ve made the front connections and start driving, the chains automatically tighten and center themselves on the tire. There’s no need to pull over to check tension or make adjustments. Reviewers love how simple this makes winter driving—just throw them on, roll forward, and they find the perfect fit on their own, even if your tires have uneven wear.

Worried About Clearance or Damaging Your Vehicle: Class S Compatible with Protective Touches

These chains meet SAE Class S standards, so they’re built for vehicles with limited wheel-well space. They only need 1/2" of internal clearance. Plastic-coated hooks help keep your hands from freezing during install, nylon bumpers protect wheel rims from scratches, and the powder-coated side chain adds another layer of corrosion resistance.

Chains That Last Season After Season: Manganese-Nickel Alloy Steel Resists Rust and Wear

Made from high-quality manganese-nickel alloy steel, these chains are built to hold up through repeated winter use. The hard outer surface resists corrosion and abrasion, while the inner steel maintains strength against shock and flexing. Even after long drives through slushy or icy roads, they maintain their integrity and performance. Each set includes two chains and a durable nylon storage bag to keep them ready for next time.

Getting Traction Without a Rough Ride: Traction Plates Bust Ice Smoothly

Built-in traction plates help break up ice and keep the ride steady. Instead of bouncing over each link, the chain’s design spreads the load more evenly across the tread. You get the bite you need for climbing slick grades and getting out of deep snow, but with a drive that feels balanced and controlled all the way through.

Konig tire chains laid out flat on the ground to remove tangles before installation on vehicle tire

Connecting the blue cable ends behind the tire during Konig tire chain installation

Connecting the red hook to the red link at the front of the tire during Konig chain installation

Feeding the tensioning chain through the large clip and securing it to the red hook during tire chain installation

Stretching the hook across the tire before driving to allow Konig snow chains to self-tension and self-center

Confirming Your Fit

If you know your tire size, you may think you won't need to test fit your new chains. But there are a lot of variables that can affect whether chains will fit your specific tires, including your tire type, the amount of air pressure in the tire, the amount of tread wear, and the tire manufacturer.

We recommend that you order chains as early in the season as possible to give yourself plenty of time to test fit the chains and reorder if needed. This way, you won't be stuck out in the cold later with snow chains that don't fit.

You can test fit these chains in your garage or driveway, but you'll want to wait until there's snow on the ground to actually drive with them. Likewise, if you're out in the snow and come across bare pavement, you'll want to pull over and remove the chains. These chains can cause damage to the bare pavement, your garage floor, or your vehicle if they break from the wear of riding on a harsh surface.

by:

I love this chains, there ridiculously easy to install compared to other chains and cables. Once there on they are on and you don't have to worry about anything loosening and flying off while your driving. I live in Oregon we get snow quite often and it's nice to be able to just throw these on and forget about the icy roads

by:

I haven't used these chains yet, but I did put them on a couple times in my garage for practice. I was able to do it! The chains are the easiest that I have ever put on a car. The video was especially helpful for knowing how to put them on. I received my order so quickly. My questions answered by the staff. I'm feeling great about my entire experience with this company. Let the snow fly on my mountain passes.

by:

I haven’t had a chance to use the new snow chains I received yet but I was impressed by the service I received from the ordering process to the excellent tracking, to the prompt delivery.

by:

Quick shipping, receipt and wonderful customer support. Well done and if the need arises, I will again do business with you.

by:

Bought these to go with our 2017 Chrysler Pacifica. We're often in Utah during the Winter and have already put them to use. They were so easy to put on all by myself. Great design and gave us all the traction we needed to climb a snowy steep mountainside.

by:

Excellent product. These folks (trailer) were one of the vendor who still caries these chains. They promised delivery in February, BUT sent the chains to me 2 WEEKS EARLY!!

by:

Product works as described, great service, and thank you Olivia for your help.
I had found the product on another website with a lower price, which I told the sales rep
about. I asked if they would price match which they did. I went with Etrailer not only
for the low price but having purchased from them before I knew that they would provide the
best service. The time estimated for delivery, well they beat that by 4 days... Under promise over deliver!

by:

We have a pair of Konig for a different vehicle. They are easy to install and remove, durable, and safe. Etrailer delivered these chains ahead of schedule. Highly recommend.

by:

Look exactly like Thule, labeled Konig, name change or sale? Too soon to comment on durability in case grade of steel isn't as good, but...

Three years with the same Thules on my wife's Subaru Outback, and experience with no plate thules and Pewag. These are by far the easiest to put on and remove, less than 5 minutes , often done in the dark. My application would be best suited to V-bars (3+" solid ice and steep hill with switchbacks) but the plates do a reasonable job on the ice. The last two winters were El Niño in AK so the set could easily have 100 uses up and down the 1/3 mi hill with no appreciable wear. They've also kept my better half on the hill instead of off of the cliff.

by:

Two minutes. Yes, that is how long it took to put these chains on the tire. I didn't believe the other reviewers' reviews, but found out for myself that it's true. Everything is done from the outside of the tire. Brilliant design! Obviously, it's too early to tell how they will fare in the snow & ice this winter, but things are looking really good!
I bought two sets: one for our Lexus RX350 and one for our Chevrolet 2500 Express van.
Both sets fit perfectly. They even supply gloves & a mat to kneel on when putting them on so as not to get wet.
Also, the chains arrived in two days...ahead of schedule.

by:

Received these within days of ordering and just in time for snow arriving! I watched the install video one time and they were truly as easy to install as shown. Im confident that they’re going to work great!

The tire chains that I ordered for my 2018 Honda CRV, tire size 235/60-18, were delivered very quickly (3 days) and very professionally done with tracking status, etc. I practiced putting on the chains following the video and instructions. The second time I put them on was even easier then the first! As a single, 67 year old woman, who has never put on tire chains before, I believe I will feel safe driving my car in snow. I would highly recommend etrailer.com. Their customer support was also great. They were very helpful when I was picking out which chains were best for my car...and me! (Note: I attached 3 photos of the chains on my car but not sure they were uploaded.)

by:

I figured I would not need these chains. I had snow tires on the van but bought these to be safe. My 2wd van couldn't make it up a steep mountain but once I added the chains I was able to make my way up the mountain. They do take some practice putting on and the chains seem to get snagged behind the tires as you are trying to position everything but with practice it gets a little easier.

by:

etrailer was the best source I could find for product and information. These chains are an excellent fit and function for my 2018 CRV and arrived quickly in perfect condition. I have driven confidently through snowy conditions on I80 in California with these in the back several times but have not had to put them on yet.

by:

These chains are soooo easy to install and while we haven't checked them out in the snow yet, based on our experience with other tire chains we think these are going to do the job very well. etrailer had excellent phone support for pre-purchase questions and their shipping was extremely fast.

by:

These are wonderful tire chains. really easy and fast to install. They store nicely in the case provided. Remember to read your Car owner's manual before buying or installing low clearance tire chains. Chains go on rear wheels only on my Audi Q5!

by:

The Good: These chains work really well on snow and ice. I have a nasty driveway in the winter and these babies get my car right up to the house. They install relatively easily if you are on a flat, snow-free surface, but can be a bit stubborn if there is any snow packed around the tire at all.
The Bad: etrailer always seems to be out of this brand, or waiting on their supplier. Two years in a row, I've had to wait multiple weeks to get these delivered, which can be frustrating if the snow is already flying. Order early and be patient.

by:

Excellent customer service from Sandy J. Patient and thorough as we ran through options for my 2015 Toyota Sienna SE minivan and its somewhat challenging needs. But Sandy made sure that my Konig chains would fit—and indeed they did. The chains are “self tensioning,” but I bought and used the cheap but effective Titan multi arm rubber adjusters anyway. They added more tension still. Chains are never fun to install but everything worked fine. Thanks!

by:

The best set of tire chains I ever bought... and I have bought a lot of them over the decades. Yes, they are more expensive than those cheaper chains, but REALLY worth the extra cost.

I'm close to 70 years old and I have no trouble putting these chains on and taking them off even when snow is already on the ground. You just need to follow the directions and practice a couple of times in dry weather. Don't wait till you need them and then try to figure it out.

No tools needed. Self adjusting, so no stopping to tighten the chains. Best of all is that they are heavy duty, not cheap steel. These things are probably going to last longer than our cars. We bought them for all our cars.

by:

I might give a 5 rating once I see how they work in real snow/ice. We bought these - just in case we needed them. We haven’t yet used them in actual snow conditions as the little snow we get around sea level near Seattle is easily handled by the all-wheel drive car. The tire chains arrived on time. We tried them on in the garage and they were easy to install and appear to be well made - sturdy. They are very easy to install. It took just minutes and if you put down some cardboard, you likely won’t get wet & dirty. I’ve put on a lot of standard chains on many vehicles large and small and know it’s usually a cold, wet, dirty job. We refreshed our installation practice again late this Fall-2021 before a trip over the mountains to get our kid from college before Thanksgiving. Once again super easy to install. We go over the mountains with great confidence we can chain up quickly if needed.

by:

This product was excellent. I am a female in my mid 20's and had never put chains on my car. I was able to put each one of these on in under a minute! I have already been recommending these to friends

This is why we highly recommend folks get some practice installing/removing the chains while the vehicle is in their driveway or garage. Its much easier to become familiar with the process there than in the snow on the side of a busy road!

by:

Just tried them on and drove down the block in now snow. 2025 Nissan Rogue Rick Creek Edition. 235/65R17 Tires. For perfectly. Definitely put them on for practice once or twice in your driveway BEFORE you need them. Not difficult; but there is a learning curve the first time you put them on.

by:

seems like a great product, easily installed after watching etrailer video.

by:

I have a 2019 Honda CRV and have never owned tire chains before so I dont have anything to compare these to but they are easy to put on and take off and they conquer a steep icy unpaved drive way in The Catskills perfectly. There are some plastic parts that probably should be metal. One of them - the tension hook - broke on one of my chains (see photo) and when I reported this to etrailer.com with a photo to prove it, they sent another set. So I am pleased overall with the service from etrailer.com but am only giving 4 stars for the product on account of the breakage. Also they rusted after one season but that hasn't impacted performance.

by:

I bought these for my 2022 Honda Odyssey for a trip to Colorado. We had to use them during a chain law enforcement through Wolf Creek Pass. They're easy to put on and take off and performance was spot on through snow pack and ice. Recommend getting familiar with them in clear conditions prior to use as its more difficult. I had no problems and would recommend for anyone, especially the novice.

The wheel protectors that come with the Konig Chains part # TH01594247 are optional but I strongly recommend using them if you value your wheels! You'll just need to put them in the best locations that will protect the wheels. There isn't a set place they have to go so you'll need to use your best judgment. You won't need the extra links but I would hold onto them in case something were to happen and you'd need to replace them. I attached an install video for these for you to check out...
